Brian is safe and sound in Kinshasa. And Haven is finally in his arms! Cami's (check out her awesome blog) wonderful husband, Ryan, took this picture for me as soon as Brian got to the compound. The trip from South Africa to DRC sounded like it wasn't much fun. Brian had to take about half of his carry on items and but them into his checked luggage because the said it was too heavy. Then there was a 3 hour flight delay due to some sort of plane malfunction. When they finally got to Kinshasa they had to go straight to an immigration office and that seemed to take a long time, too.
He called me today at about 3:30 my time. He sounded tired. It was about 10:30 at night there. He had finally gotten Haven to fall asleep on his chest. It just melts my heart thinking about it.
I, of course, have been a wreck all day long. Brian's phone call to let me know he was safely in Kinshasa was several hours late and I had worked myself into quite a tizzy! Then I got the picture from Ryan and the tears came pouring down.
Brian said that Haven is quite small. He has a little pot belly, but skinny little arms and legs. Brian said that in general the men he has seen in Kinshasa are pretty short, so maybe little is more normal than we think. I hope so. I'm a bit nervous about the long term effects of malnutrition, but Haven was obviously a fighter and God has great things planned for him!
That's all the news for now. I'll probably post again tomorrow with more updates. Keep praying, its working!
